Who puts the Juice In Juice Box Studio?

Those who know George will tell you—

“George IS Juice Box.”

But who is this George guy, anyway?

He’s too steeped in Southern gentility to ever brag on himself, so we had to hijack this About page just to sneak in some well-deserved praise of the fella!

The general consensus is—George rocks!

Not only is he a top notch producer, he’s also an excellent musician in his own right.

More than most, George has a deep understanding of how musical elements come together—from both sides of the console.

As a producer, he’s got a knack for guiding a project without seeming to steer. As a musician, he can jump in and add that special sauce that your track’s been needing.

He’s the type of person who can be decisive and forthright while also remaining diplomatic and good-natured.

He’ll help when you need, and take your direction when you’re clear on what you want.

With his easygoing manner, he’s able to coax the best performance from every musician he works with.

George just knows how to bring out the best in you.

He keeps a keen ear on the micro touches that really make a track sizzle—without ever losing sight of the big picture.

His expertise comes from experience and musicianship as well as that something special in folks who just have an innate knack for something.

Now you know what you’ll get when you work with Juice Box Studio—You’ll get George. And no other studio can say they have that.

But please don’t let him read this, ok?

He’ll get so embarrassed—he’ll blush as red as his hair!

You’ve heard about us—Now let us hear about you!

What’s In a Name? The story of Juice Box—

The year was 2006. I’d created a simple home studio setup, with the initial goal of recording my band. We quickly realized we were in need of some isolation boxes for a project that included an old Fender guitar amp and a Leslie cabinet. At the time there was a store, here in Swannanoa, aptly called Whatever. As the name suggests, Whatever sold a miscellanea of random items—a veritable treasure trove for salvage hunters. Digging through the offerings one day, I stumbled upon a huge stack of high-grade plywood sheets. Jackpot! These were just what I needed to complete the sound proofing for our upcoming project. We soon discovered the sheets came from deconstructed shipping containers of juice concentrate. Tickled by the origin story, the crew started referring to setting up “in the juice box.” Never one to let a moment of kismet pass me by, I decided to lean into the name and christened the whole studio The Juice Box. And there you have it, folks! ~George

Aww, shucks! More praise for JBS…

Juice Box Studio is a top notch recording spot. My band and I chose Juice Box Studio not only because of George’s professionalism and his standards for the quality of music he produces, but because the equipment is excellent, and he is extremely easy to work with! He has a superb ear and a creative style that can transform a song into art. Recording at Juice Box has not only given me professional recordings, but it has also helped me become more creative on the production end. I recommend Juice Box Studio without any reservations.

With George at the helm, I know I’m going to get the results I’m looking for at Juice Box Studio. After all, there are a lot of small studios around with decent equipment and competitive rates. What George brings is a whole other level of attention, musical sophistication and good judgment, as part of the package
— Steve Cohen - Musician and Artist Manager
Working with George at Juice Box Studio is a real pleasure. His patient, intuitive style of capturing the best of an artist’s creativity is a gift. His kind nature and keen ear create an atmosphere that can be felt and heard in the recordings.
